Summary:
Drives execution of Precision Solutions BU Continuous Improvement strategy in alignment with Hyperion Business System structure and principles. Ownership and management of Precision Solutions BU continuous improvement funnel. Lead, train, and apply Lean and Six Sigma principals to Continuous Improvement initiatives including shop floor and administrative (office) kaizen events to support key business objectives across all Precision Solutions locations and product areas. Provide leadership, education and guidance throughout the Kaizen process. Train and mentor team members in a broad range of lean philosophies to include the shop floor kaizen process. Supports establishment and utilization of visual metrics to help evaluate effectiveness of lean operations, identify and drive improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops production unit lean strategies identifying process improvement opportunities in close partnership with BU general managers and PU operational leadership. Plan (Preparation, Coordination), execute and follow-up on kaizen activity in alignment with a BU and PU strategy.
- Maintains Continuous Improvement Funnel for Precision Solutions, coordinating prioritization of events and key resources in alignment with strategic business unit needs. Coordinates cross functional support as required to support BU initiatives, including global operations, finance, IT, and others as necessary.
- Acts as a Change Agent. Lead and mentor team-based improvement projects throughout the business unit. Coaches and develops local PU resources in lean concepts, tools and strategies, creating lean leaders across the business unit.
- Identify, lead and/or facilitate Kaizen events in close partnership with BU and PU managers. Mentor leaders and team members as required, to meet customer needs and adhere to agreed-upon schedules.
- Identify and prioritize areas and processes to apply improvement strategies based on business unit strategy in areas including capacity expansion, lead time reduction, quality improvement, new part introduction, and cost reduction.
- Determine the appropriate Lean tools, methodologies and timing of improvement activity to achieve business unit objectives. Utilize tools, techniques and methodologies in the application of a full range of improvement activities.

Education and/or Work Experience:
- BS in Engineering, Manufacturing or Operational Management
- Minimum of 5 years working within a Lean manufacturing operating system
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Completion of Lean certification or Six Sigma programs a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Deep working knowledge of Lean Principles and Tools, including, but not limited to: Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Flow, Kanban, Visual Management, TPM, Kaizen, Transactional Process Improvement, Variation Reduction, SMED, and 3P
- Ability to apply and teach Problem Solving methods, including but not limited to: 5 Why, A3, and Variation Reduction
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project
- Ability to mine, analyze and synthesis detailed data sets into clear information that is easily digestible and actionable
- Ability to clearly present complex problems, recommendations, and solutions to all levels of the organization from shop floor to top executives
Travel:
Primary Location in West Branch, Michigan
Travel required up to 25 to 50% of time, mostly to Precision Solutions locations – Latrobe, PA; Bridgeport, MI; Elk Grove, IL and future acquisitions (domestic and international)
